Gabriel Pandelis Biography
Designer/Consultant/Educator
Co-founder
Gabriel is a lifelong student of his self.
He began his career in the music industry, running his own professional recording studio for twenty years; as a sound engineer, producer, project manager and organizer, consultant and artist. He worked as a freelancer in Cyprus and abroad for different clients such as the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and Cyprus Theatre Organisation.
During those years he also dedicated plenty of his time to the arts through photography, music and sculpture. His skills in the field of the arts were further developed through a diploma in photography, a foundation course in arts and design, web designing, photo and video editing, and social media integration.
His real passion though was lying in the field of sustainable living. As a boy scout he developed a deep love and appreciation for mother earth which later on sparked his desire to protect and restore what was given to us and sustain it for the generations to come. A well-travelled and ardent seeker of truth, Gabriel holds a clear vision of the future: Wanting to become the change he wants to see in the world. He then decided to turn his vision into reality by creating his own private paradise: IEROKIPIO - a permaculture site in the middle of Mitsero forest, in the heart of Cyprus. As a constantly inquiring mind, Gabriel is always reading something new on permaculture, eco-village design, aquaponics, natural building and sustainable living practices. His accumulated knowledge through the years led to him experimenting with a variety of techniques and principles and convert a small forest cabin house into a green home, utilizing seventy percent of recycled and junk material and incorporating resilient living structures such as solar panels, a greywater system, a composting toilet and rainwater harvesting features.
In 2007 he founded ECOLIFE, a green company involved in trading, utilizing and promoting green products (construction, geodesic domes, solar energy, composting toilets), technologies (aquaponics, greywater treatment) and regenerative concepts (permaculture) with the aim of providing solutions for a resilient living. His active role as a promoter of natural and regenerative living practices granted him the Cyprus Green Party annual Environmental Award 2017, for his services and overall contribution on spreading, practicing and establishing permaculture and other sustainable practices and techniques.
Building on his personal sustainability and resilience training, he completed his Permaculture Design Course (PDC) with Peter Cow & Nicolas Netien in 2014. In October 2015 he completed his Permaculture Teachers' Training with Rosemary Morrow, Alfred Decker and Patricia Pereira. Later on he completed the Water Harvesting for Food Security Certification Course at Naatum Womens Group Center in Laikipia Kenya with world-renowned teacher Warren Brush and assistant facilitators Joseph Lentunyoi (founder of Laikipia Permaculture Center (LPC) and Istvan Marculy. A year later he completed the Advanced Permaculture for Climate Resilience Course offered by Oregon University, with Javan Bernakevitch and Andrew Milisson and A Citizen Science: From Soil to Sky Course offered by the University of Dundee, UK with Dr Naomi van der Velden, Dr Drew Hemment, Gerid Hager and Dr Blair McKenzie.

Gabriel is also an accredited Fusion 7 Healing and ThetaHealing™ practitioner and a passionate advocate of personal and spiritual growth. During his personal journey to self and the divine, he researched the Goddess; her history and her place in modern life with the goal of finding balance between the masculine and feminine aspects of ourselves, our planet and the divine. With his soul brother Nektarios, they created and led a series of tours that went beyond mere “taking people to see nice places." These tours were "about forming true groups; where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts; this group energy can then empower each individual to explore one’s self and beyond, and ultimately give something back.”

In 2016, along with his permaculture partner Sofia, he formed Permaculture Designs Cyprus, with the goal to offer regenerative and resilient design solutions for homes, schools and farmlands. Gabriel also works as a teacher and public speaker offering his services to individuals, organizations, groups, and companies.

He currently lives and works at Ierokipio in Mitsero Village, where he applies permaculture every single day. As a strong supporter of his community, he is one of the founding members of Mitsero Environmental Association where he holds the position of president and lead educator.
