Permaculture Design
What is permaculture design?

To bring resilience into your life, you need to act. But before you act, you need to plan. The Japanese proverb couldn’t say it better:
“A vision without action is a daydream.
An action without a mission a nightmare.”

Permaculture design is about collecting all essential information, processing it and offering solutions that resonate with the client’s goals and the site’s specific needs and characteristics. When you employ a permaculture way of thinking, you create high-yielding living systems that respect nature and help regenerate rather than deplete resources and degenerate the natural environment.

Permaculture design is based on the three ethics of Permaculture:
EARTH CARE - PEOPLE CARE - FUTURE CARE
Why do you need one?
Whether you are considering purchasing and settling on a new plot of land or want to create your own fruit forest and urban vegetable garden, you need a plan. You want to get the most out of your project by investing the least possible amount of effort and resources.

When you decide to begin your next project with a plan, a permaculture design will help you:

-
SAVE TIME AND ENERGY - A poorly-designed project is always followed by high maintenance and a series of costly corrections
-
SPEND FEWER RESOURCES - When you design with consideration, you save on water, energy and money and make the utmost use of all your available resources
-
PLAN FOR THE FUTURE - Create a project that is highly adaptive to the anticipated effects of climate change and is long-term resilient
What is our design process?
To kick off a new design project, we begin with a thorough review and evaluation of all the available facts: we carefully consider the project’s desired outcomes in relation to the available resources and the environment’s characteristics.
Analyzing and observing the specific wants and needs of the project, we implement permaculture’s core principles and ethics, and create the most appropriate and resilient design for you. Here's how it goes:

Stage 1 - IDENTIFY

-
We take a look at your current site or the project’s future location
-
You fill in a questionnaire where we ask you about your goals, needs and available resources

Stage 2 - DIAGNOSE

-
We analyze and process the information contained in your questionnaire
-
We assess your site and collect all necessary data through multiple on-site visits
-
We use an extensive bibliography as well as online resources to gather all essential data for your site
(meteorological and land mapping data from state and online databases, satellite imagery from online platforms,
information on protected natural areas and flora and fauna preservation sectors)
Stage 3 - DESIGN

-
We process all collected data and start shaping the design that suits the available inputs and desired outcomes best
-
We conduct on-site visits and keep in constant communication with you in order to clarify any needed points

Stage 4 - DELIVER

-
Based on your goals, needs, available resources and site’s profile, we deliver a design that contains:
-
A finalized design map (hard copy and electronic)
-
A written report that guides you through the philosophy of permaculture and the choices made,
the analysis of data and resulting design suggestions, and the principles and implementation guidelines behind
the suggested features and structures included in the design
